Prefixes and suffixes, as we have seen, are often a clue to meaning.
Today we are looking at the prefixes sopra- and sovra- which denote a surplus of something:
La sovrappopolazione 鈥 overpopulation
La sovraffollamento 鈥 overcrowding
Sovraffaticato / a 鈥 overtired
Soprannaturale 鈥 supernatural
Il soprannome 鈥 nickname [ie., an extra name]
And a person who is absent-minded is 鈥渟辞辫谤补辫辫别苍蝉颈别谤辞鈥, ie., he has too many thoughts going round in his head!
