An exhibition dedicated to 16th century Florentine artists Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino is currently on at Florence鈥檚 Palazzo Strozzi.
鈥淧ontormo e Rosso Fiorentino. Divergenti vie della maniera鈥 (Pontormo and Rosso Fiorentino. Diverging paths of Mannerism) presents the works of two of the most unconventional artists of a time Giorgio Vasari defined as 鈥渕odern mannerism.鈥
Both artists studied with Andrea del Sarto, but maintained a strong independence and freedom of expression. Pontormo was one of the Medici鈥檚 favorite painters and more open to breaking with tradition; Rosso Fiorentino was preferred by Republican aristocrats, opponents of the Medici, worked more within traditional canons, but experimented a great deal as well, as he was influenced by Cabala literature and esotericism.
The exhibition features more than 80 works coming from 天美传媒 and abroad, some restored for the occasion, and are presented in a chronological order divided by theme.
